Enviro-Crete Inc. has poured over 50% of all of the pervious concrete jobs in California over the last 3 years. The success we have achieved
is directly related to the craftsman knowledge and expertise in handling and placing pervious concrete mixes. This page will give you
a good look at some of the different type of projects we have poured.

Napa-Ducks Unlimited

Owner: Ducks Unlimited
Location: Napa, CA
Contractor: McGuire/Hester Construction

This project was poured in the salt flats of Napa next to the Napa river. This is a highly sensitive enviornmental area. The area is home to millions of migrating waterfowl and the Napa River was within a few hundred feet of the project. The Napa River is a major California river that is home to salmon, steel head trout, catfish, shad, and many other species of fish. The owner of the project is Ducks Unlimited, and the construction managers was the California Department of Fish and Game, the contractor for the project was McGuire/Hester Construction Inc. The purpose of this parking lot was to provide parking for visitors to the wildlife area. There was a zero tolerance for any type of hydro-carbon emissions from the vehicles to enter into the surrounding environmentally sensitive areas. Pervious concrete was chosen as the pavement of choice because the storm water that would be hitting the surface of the parking lot would pick up the hydro-carbons and transfer them down into the second stage rock area. The carbons would them be digested into CO2 by naturally occurring microbes that exist in the second stage rock layer. The digested hydro-carbons then would leach into the ground as purified water. This biological process, called microbial digestion, is the basis for purifying all storm water before it reenters our earths strata. The project has been praised by the California Department of Fish and Game and Ducks Unlimited as a very effective methodology for managing storm water and satisfying the environmental considerations in such a sensitive eco-system. The protection provided to the natural habitats from the potentially hazardous vehicle emissions has been shown to be safe and clean.

Crab Cove

Owner: Food and Drug Administration
Location: Alameda, CA
Contractor: American Asphalt

This project was a remodeling of many FDA buildings in Alameda, CA. These buildings were being retrofitted for newer building codes and regulations. They were then put up for sale because of the down sizing of the FDA campus in Alameda. Pervious concrete was utilized on this site because of the lack of storm water facilities on site and the extremely close proximity to San Francisco Bay. The bay was within a few hundred yards of the site.

Reno Art Center

Owner: City of Reno
Location: Reno, NV
Contractor: QD Construction

This was a fantastic project for not only the City of Reno, but the State of Nevada. This was the first project federally funded for the State of Nevada, utilizing pervious concrete. The purpose of utilizing pervious concrete at this location was because of the close proximity to the Truckee River. NPDES legislation prohibits any storm water from leaving a site. This project is owned by the City of Reno and they choose to utilize pervious concrete because of the lack of storm water facilities on the site. The Art Center roof top storm water and the adjacent parking lot drained onto the pervious concrete area. The storm water was then filter and cleaned prior to the water being able to enter into the ground aquifer or the nearby Truckee River. The City of Reno is very pleased and excited about utilizing pervious concrete. They are currently designing many more projects and new applications which will satisfy their NPDES obligations.

Harbor Hills

Owner: LA Housing Authority
Location: Long Beach, CA
Contractor: Torres Construction

The LA Housing Authority is utilizing Federal Funds to upgrade all of the parking sites on three of its campuses, Carmelitos I & II, and Harbor Hills. Altogether there are over 50 parking lots that are being upgraded. To date Enviro-Crete Inc. has poured five parking lots on the three campuses. Every pour to date has been praised by the LA Housing Authority and they are moving forward with the construction of the rest of the parking areas.

Lafayette Bike Path

Owner: City of Lafayette
Location: Lafayette, CA
Contractor: RR Maher

This project was poured for the City of Lafayette along the Lafayette River, which is water that comes out of the Lafayette Reservoir. This is a very sensitive area for wildlife and the river. The pervious concrete was poured right next to the river and it provides protection to the river from storm water that would potentially enter the Lafayette River. The City of Lafayette is very pleased and excited with the project. They have since designed their new library with pervious concrete and are committed to many more projects and applications in the future.

Boron Rest Area

Owner: Cal Trans
Location: Boron, CA
Contractor: Ryan Eaton Construction

This was the first project for Cal Trans. It is a very important project for Cal Trans because of their need to use pervious concrete in all of their projects. The Boron project was the perfect location for their first project because it was a low impact very descrete area. The project was very successful and since that time there have been three other projects released by Cal Trans. Cal Trans will soon be using pervious concrete for lots of applications.
